Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has opened online applications for Combined Civil Services Examination - IV (Group IV Services) under Notification No. 11/2026 (Advertisement No. 747, dated 06.10.2026). The notice lists 6574 vacancies in all — covering Village Administrative Officer, Junior Assistant, Typist, Steno-Typist (Grade III), Bill Collector, Forest Watcher / Forest Guard with Driving Licence, and other allied posts across Tamil Nadu services and organisations.

These vacancy figures are tentative and liable to change before counselling starts. Department / unit-wise distribution comes later. The Commission may also add more posts with similar eligibility.

Selected post-wise counts (from notification vacancy table — Total 6574)

  • Village Administrative Officer — 291
  • Junior Assistant (Non Security) – TN Ministerial Service — 2610
  • Junior Assistant (Accounts) – TNPDCL — 422
  • Typist (Ministerial / Judicial Ministerial etc.) — 856% + 377% (including backlog as in notice)
  • Steno Typist Grade III (Ministerial / Judicial) — 209% + 145% (including backlog as in notice)
  • Forest Watcher / Forest Guard with Driving Licence — 40# + 1 (as in notice)
All listed posts combined — 6574

Full post-wise table (46 rows) is in the official notification §3. Symbols in notice: % including backlog; # including outstanding sportspersons. Do not invent category-wise subtotals beyond the notice.

Pay (as notified, examples): Level 8 / Level 10 / Level 3 / Level 5 and specified scales (e.g. Level 3 ₹19,500–62,000 for JA Accounts; Level 3 ₹16,600–52,400 for Bill Collector UHDB; Handloom Weavers Co-op JA ₹17,000–54,060 EPF). See the notification table for each post.

Eligibility (high level — notice)

  • Education (core): For most posts, you need the Minimum General Educational Qualification — a pass in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Public Examination or its equivalent (as defined in the notification). Typist / Steno-Typist / Forest / Laboratory / other posts need extra technical qualifications (Typewriting / Shorthand grades, driving licence + first-aid / experience for Forest Guard with DL, and so on) — see notification §4.2 post-wise.
  • Age (as on 01.07.2026): For the large “Others” block covering most Junior Assistant / Typist / Steno / Bill Collector style posts: minimum 18 years (VAO minimum 21), maximum 30 years if you do not belong to SC / SC(A) / ST / MBC/DC / BC(OBCM) / BCM, with concessions (e.g. Persons with Benchmark Disability up to 40, Ex-Servicemen up to 48, Destitute Widow 35 / 40 for VAO as tabled). Reserved-community candidates have higher / “no maximum age limit” rules as in §4.1 (you must not have completed 60 years as on 01.07.2026 or at selection/appointment where “no maximum” applies). The full post-wise age table is in the notification — do not invent.
Reservation: The rule of reservation applies to each post separately (except shortfall vacancies). Details are in Annexure II of the notification.
